Presentation of The Motherboard, a project by Mascha Danzis

In 2020, when the borders were closed, Mascha and her son found themselves in different countries and, since meeting each other was impossible, started playing Minecraft online. They built houses, planted gardens, bred sheep, and caught fish, staying together at a distance in the digital world. Mascha noticed their relationship change in the process: new patterns of communication developed and they became closer on a different, more sincere and open level. This experience became the core of her project The Motherboard.
During the presentation, the artist will give a tour of her home, plantations, villages, castles, and bunkers in Minecraft, share her experience of digital motherhood, and explain how the relationship with her son changed while playing the game together.
The event will be of interest to parents of teenagers and young adults whose communication is impaired for various reasons. Participants will also have the opportunity to take their first steps in Minecraft and discuss how to discover practices that help relieve tension and release suppressed impulses in order to build trusting communication with a child.
The event is part of the public program accompanying the World Gone By Computer Class.
